St. Michael School Mission Statement:
As part of the vocation and Catholic mission of St. Michael the Archangel Church, St. Michael School is committed to the pursuit of teaching children to know, love, and serve God. St. Michael School works in partnership with parents to promote responsible Catholic Christian Virtues by instilling leadership capabilities that reflect Catholic values. We are devoted to academic excellence, and the physical and social well-being of each of God's children that inspires life-long learners.

Welcome to Kindergarten! My name is Mary Miller. I have been a teacher at St. Michael School for nineteen years. I also taught in Urbana, IL and at St. Mary's School in Streator. I have a B.S. in Education from Illinois State University which includes Reading Resource. I am married and have a beautiful daugher who lives in the St. Louis area with her husband. No grandchildren yet! I enjoy reading, walking, watching all sports with my husband, and knitting. I would love to be able to knit socks and mittens, which is easier said than done!

My name is Shelly MacBean and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and welcome you to St. Michael the Archangel School. I am a graduate from the University of St. Francis where I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in English. This is my seventh year of teaching at St. Michael where I have taught second and third grades, and now this year first and second grade. My family and I are parishioners of St. Michael Church, and reside in rural Cornell. My husband, John, and I have three children. Cheyenne, grade 7, attends St. Michael. My eldest daughter, Shayna, is a graduate of St. Michael and now attends Marquette Academy in Ottawa as does my son, John.

Hello my name is Connie Durdan and I am a lifetime member of the Streator community, having attended Catholic grade school at St. Stephen School and graduated from Streator High School. I then attended and graduated with a teaching degree from ISU and have been an educator for 27 years. The 2011-2012 school year is my 25th year at SMS. My two sons are graduates of SAS and Streator High School. They are now in college. My husband is a local business owner and a lifetime resident of Streator.

My name is Theresa Graves, and I have been teaching in Catholic education for 22 years, the last six at St. Michael's School. I graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with endorsements in Social Science and Language Arts. I am certified to teach grades K-9. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I reside in Streator with my husband Tim and daughter Emma Jill.

Hi, my name is Annette Kohn. I teach Junior High Science, Reading & English. I graduated from Northern Illinois University where I majored in Elementary Education. Before coming to St. Michael's, I taught in the Utica & Harding school districts. Ottawa is where I call home, along with my husband, Tim, daughter, Jackie, three dogs and one turtle. My family and I attend St. Patrick's church in Ottawa. Sewing, horseback riding, and crafts are among my hobbies.

My name is Sheila Brockman, and I am a Dwight native, having graduated from Dwight Grade and Township High Schools. I graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s of Music Education in 1981. I hold both K-9 and 6-12 teaching certificates with several endorsements including Language Arts and Social Studies. The 2011– 2012 school year is my 27th year in education. I spent one year substitute teaching, seven years teaching on Fort Hood, TX and am in my 19th year at St. Michael School. My family and I are members of St. Michael Parish. My husband, Steve, and I have three children. Molly and Kate are graduates of St. Anthony School. Molly graduated from Marquette High School and is currently a student at Western Illinois University. Kate is sophomore at Spoon River College. Last, but not least, is Sean, who is a seventh grade student at St. Michael. I continue to feel privileged to interact with all the students and their families on a daily basis at St. Michael School.
Welcome to the computer lab! My name is Nancy Sedlacko, and I have been teaching here since 1986. I graduated with a B.S. from Northeastern Illinois University in 1981. Before coming to Streator I was a special education teacher in Chicago. My husband and I are members of St. Michael's parish, and we have two children who live in Chicago.
